Planning My Own Midlife “Crisis”… Or Something Like That

Lately, I’ve been joking that I’m planning my own midlife crisis 😄

And honestly… it kind of feels like I am.

Life is about to change in some pretty big ways. Before long, I’m going to be an empty nester.

Even typing that feels a little surreal.

The emotions that come with it?

They’re real. And they’re intense.

There’s pride.

There’s excitement for what’s ahead.

And there’s also that quiet question that keeps showing up…

Now what?

What will my life look like?

Who am I in this next chapter?

This Isn’t a Crisis… But It Is a Shift

I don’t necessarily see this as a negative season.

But I also won’t pretend it’s easy.

It’s a shift.

A big one.

And with that comes this unexpected energy bubbling up inside me…

This desire for change.

For excitement.

For something new.

If Not a Motorcycle… Then What?

You always hear about people hitting this stage of life and doing something bold—buying a motorcycle, making a big, spontaneous change.

The funny thing is… I already ride a motorcycle 😄

So now I’m over here like…

What’s my thing?

A new hairstyle?

A tattoo?

A dog?

A completely new routine?

A version of myself I haven’t met yet?

The possibilities feel… kind of endless.

And honestly? That’s both exciting and a little uncomfortable.

Maybe It’s Not About Reinventing…

The more I sit with it, the more I realize…

Maybe this season isn’t about having a “crisis” or completely reinventing myself.

Maybe it’s about rediscovering who I already am—

without the roles and the routines that have filled my days for so long.

Maybe it’s about asking:

What do I enjoy?

What lights me up?

What do I want more of?

An Itch for More

All I know right now is this:

I feel it.

That little pull for something different.

Something exciting.

Something new.

Not in a reckless, burn-it-all-down kind of way…

But in a there’s more for me here kind of way.

Maybe This Is the Beginning

So maybe I am planning something…

Not a midlife crisis—

but a midlife expansion.

A season of growth.

Of curiosity.

Of trying new things just because I can.

Of becoming someone new… while still being completely myself.

Let’s Talk

If you’re in this season too… I’d love to know:

Have you ever felt this pull for change?

What did you do with it?

Here’s to embracing the unknown, leaning into change, and creating a life that keeps evolving—beautifully and boldly.

With grit, grace, and good vibes,

Mary Anne 🤍
